[NEWS] Yo Ho! Yo Ho! A Pirate’s Life For Assassin’s Creed!

Mat Paget

If you haven’t seen the numerous leaks over the past few days concerning Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, then you probably live in a cave. But if you haven’t, then this post won’t be totally obsolete to you!

The next Assassin’s Creed game is going to be set in 1715 in the Caribbean. And there’s going to be PIRATES! It’s going to feature Edward Kenway, the grandfather of Assassin’s Creed III‘s protagonist, Connor. The reason for the IV in the title has to do with the fact that it’s going to be, according to Creative Director Ashraf Ismail, a “new, refreshing, different [Assassin’s Creed] than previous [Assassin’s Creed games].” You can hear what else he has to say in an interview he took with Adam Sessler of Rev3Games (watch that here).

I have trouble believing that it’s going to be such a new experience, as a lot was promised for Assassin’s Creed III, and no game has ever made me more angry than that one — if you follow me on Twitter, you would know exactly what I’m talking about. However, I really love pirates, and am more than willing to give this game a chance based on that alone. Still, like the PlayStation 4, I’m going to stay cautiously optimistic for the time being.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag probably won’t feature Henry Rollins, and is set for release on October 29. It will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PC, and PlayStation 4. It will also most likely be made available for the next console from Microsoft.
